Resumen

La fuerza de las extremidades de los pterosaurios sugiere buenas capacidades de locomoción terrestre, con extremidades anteriores más fuertes que las posteriores. Los pterosaurios más grandes tenían índices de capacidad atlética más bajos, lo que indica una menor destreza terrestre.

Conclusiones:

  • Las extremidades anteriores de los pterosaurios eran relativamente más fuertes que las posteriores para resistir la flexión y la compresión axial.
  • El aumento de la masa corporal en los pterosaurios se correlacionó con una disminución de la capacidad de locomoción terrestre.
  • Los pterosaurios, incluidas las formas tempranas, eran más competentes en tierra de lo que se suponía anteriormente, aunque grupos específicos como los pteranodontoides tenían limitaciones.
