Resumen
La melatonina (MLT) mejora la memoria en ratones diabéticos al inhibir la ferroptosis y la ferritofagia. Se dirige a STING, reduciendo los procesos celulares dañinos y protegiendo contra la disfunción cognitiva diabética.
Conclusiones:
- La melatonina mejora la disfunción cognitiva diabética a través de mecanismos duales: inhibiendo la ferroptosis dependiente de ACSL4 y la ferritofagia mediada por NCOA4.
- La melatonina logra estos efectos al dirigirse directamente a la señalización de STING y suprimirla.
- Estos hallazgos revelan una nueva vía terapéutica para el manejo de la DCD que involucra la modulación de la melatonina y STING.
