- To investigate the association between characteristics of valued life activities (VLAs) and arterial stiffness, measured by brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV).

- Cross-sectional analysis of 380 community-dwelling adults from the Wakayama study (2017).; Assessment of VLAs (number, domain, frequency, continuity, performance, satisfaction) via self-administered questionnaire.; Measurement of brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) to assess arterial stiffness.
Principales resultados:
- 77.1% of participants had elevated baPWV (≥14 m/s), indicating cardiovascular risk.; Having three VLAs was associated with lower odds of elevated baPWV (aOR 0.33 [0.13-0.85]).; Participation in both leisure and productivity activities showed reduced odds of elevated baPWV, particularly in women (OR 0.49 [0.26-0.91]).
Conclusiones:
- The number and type of valued life activities, particularly combined leisure and productivity engagement in women, may be relevant to arterial stiffness.; Age significantly influences arterial stiffness, attenuating some VLA associations in sensitivity analyses.; Assessing VLAs could inform health support programs for middle-aged and older adults to mitigate arterial stiffness.
