Sus antecedentes:

  • Las actividades culturales y educativas impactan positivamente el bienestar físico, emocional, cognitivo y social de los adultos mayores.; Los museos ofrecen interacción social, relajación, adquisición de habilidades y pueden reducir el aislamiento y la ansiedad en personas mayores.; El impacto promotor de la salud de las visitas a museos para adultos mayores es un área emergente de investigación.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Analizar cómo la participación social y el estado cognitivo/anímico previo influyen en los resultados de aprendizaje y emocionales en adultos mayores después de una visita a un museo de ciencia.; Investigar el potencial recreativo, educativo y promotor de la salud de las visitas a museos para adultos mayores autosuficientes.

Principales métodos:

  • 200 adultos mayores autosuficientes (edad media 71.87) completaron una visita de 30 minutos a un museo de ciencia en Buenos Aires.; Los datos recopilados incluyeron el Cuestionario de Participación Social, MOCA (función cognitiva), Escala de Depresión Geriátrica (GDS), GAD-7 (ansiedad) y Escala PANAS-Estado (emociones).; Los análisis estadísticos examinaron las asociaciones entre los factores previos a la visita y los estados de aprendizaje y emocionales posteriores a la visita.

Principales resultados:

  • Mayor participación social se correlacionó con un aumento de emociones positivas (r=.22, p<.01) y una disminución de emociones negativas (r=-.135, p<.05) post-visita.; Mayor participación en la vida diaria se relacionó con menores indicadores de depresión (r=-.208, p<.01) y ansiedad (r=-.131, p<.05).; Un mejor estado cognitivo (MOCA) se asoció significativamente con el aprendizaje de más información nueva durante la visita al museo (r=.501, p<.01).

Conclusiones:

  • Las actividades de ocio, como las visitas a museos, desempeñan un papel crucial en la construcción de la reserva cognitiva a lo largo de la vida.; El compromiso con el museo puede actuar como un factor de protección cognitiva durante el envejecimiento y una herramienta eficaz para la regulación emocional en adultos mayores.; La participación social es clave para resultados emocionales positivos y la reducción de la ansiedad/depresión en adultos mayores que participan en actividades culturales.
