Resumen

Para las personas latinas/as/e/x, la búsqueda de atención para la memoria está influenciada por la edad, el apoyo familiar y la comprensión de las causas de los síntomas. Mejorar la facilidad de acceso a los servicios puede fomentar la búsqueda oportuna de atención médica.

Sus antecedentes:

  • La pérdida de memoria impacta significativamente la calidad de vida, necesitando atención profesional.; Los factores culturales, sociales y personales influyen en las decisiones de búsqueda de atención entre los individuos latinos/as/e/x.; Comprender estas motivaciones es clave para intervenciones y alcance efectivos.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Explorar las motivaciones para buscar atención de la memoria entre diversos individuos latinos/as/e/x en los EE. UU.; Identificar los desafíos únicos que enfrenta esta población.; Desarrollar estrategias personalizadas para fomentar el acceso oportuno a la atención de la memoria.

Principales métodos:

  • Se administró una encuesta validada de 47 ítems a adultos latinos/as/e/x (18+) en los EE. UU. y Puerto Rico (2021-2024).; La encuesta evaluó el conocimiento sobre la demencia y los dominios de la teoría del comportamiento planificado (creencias, control percibido).; Los datos se analizaron utilizando estadísticas descriptivas, Chi-cuadrado, Mann-Whitney U y regresión logística multinomial.

Principales resultados:

  • 1.019 personas latinas/as/e/x completaron la encuesta; el 74% eran mujeres, edad media 46,2.; el 70% eran muy/extremadamente propensas a ver a un médico por problemas de memoria que afectaban la rutina.; La intención de buscar atención se correlacionó con la edad, la confianza en el diagnóstico, la importancia de conocer la causa, la aprobación familiar y la facilidad para buscar ayuda.

Conclusiones:

  • La edad, la aprobación familiar y el deseo de conocer la causa de los síntomas son impulsores clave para que las personas latinas/as/e/x busquen atención para la memoria.; La investigación futura debe centrarse en los factores que influyen en la facilidad de acceso a los servicios de atención de la memoria.; La inclusión de factores de acceso en la atención estándar puede incentivar la búsqueda oportuna de atención médica.
