Sus antecedentes:

  • La elevada rotación de enfermeras en EE. UU. (16,4%) cuesta a los hospitales más de 3 millones de dólares anuales.
  • El ejército de EE. UU. enfrenta una escasez de más de 1.300 enfermeras activas debido a renuncias.
  • Los impactos en los miembros del servicio, las familias y la defensa nacional exigen la comprensión de la retención de enfermeras militares.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Explorar las experiencias únicas de las enfermeras activas del Ejército de los EE. UU.
  • Identificar conceptos clave que influyen en la retención de enfermeras militares.
  • Informar estrategias para mejorar la fuerza laboral de enfermería militar.

Principales métodos:

  • Diseño de estudio cualitativo, descriptivo e interpretativo.
  • Se reclutaron 24 enfermeras activas del Ejército a través de las redes sociales.
  • Se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas a través de Zoom y se analizaron mediante análisis temático reflexivo.

Principales resultados:

  • Los factores de retención influenciados por las "personas": líderes, mentores, comunidad y pacientes.
  • Los roles duales como oficiales militares y como individuos/miembros de la familia impactan la retención.
  • Se identificaron conceptos multifactoriales que afectan la retención de enfermeras en el ejército.

Conclusiones:

  • Las relaciones positivas y el equilibrio de roles son cruciales para la retención.
  • Las recomendaciones incluyen liderazgo y mentoría basados en relaciones.
  • Mejorar la comunidad, instituir pistas clínicas para un enfoque sostenido en la enfermería.
