Objetivo del estudio:

  • Introducir y validar una nueva prueba dicótica no verbal (NVDLT).
  • Evaluar la eficacia de la NVDLT en la diferenciación de varios subtipos de demencia de los controles sanos.
  • Proporcionar una herramienta culturalmente adaptable para evaluar la audición central en enfermedades neurodegenerativas.

Principales métodos:

  • Se administró la NVDLT a pacientes con enfermedad de Alzheimer, variantes de afasia primaria progresiva, demencia frontotemporal y controles sanos.
  • Se utilizaron sonidos no verbales universalmente familiares presentados dicóticamente.
  • Se ajustaron los análisis para la audición periférica, la edad, el sexo y las puntuaciones del Mini-Examen del Estado Mental.

Principales resultados:

  • Todos los grupos de pacientes tuvieron un rendimiento significativamente peor en la NVDLT en comparación con los controles sanos.
  • La NVDLT demostró una alta capacidad discriminatoria entre pacientes y controles (AUC=0.93).
  • Se observó un rendimiento excepcional en la diferenciación de la enfermedad de Alzheimer (AUC=0.99) y la variante logopénica de la afasia primaria progresiva (AUC=1.0) de los controles.

Conclusiones:

  • La NVDLT es una herramienta sensible para detectar la demencia, especialmente en síndromes relacionados con el Alzheimer.
