  • El rendimiento cognitivo está influenciado por variables lingüísticas y de aculturación.; La evaluación cognitiva precisa de adultos mayores de orígenes cultural y lingüísticamente diversos (CALD) requiere medidas adaptadas.; Las medidas existentes pueden no capturar adecuadamente estas variables en el contexto australiano.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Desarrollar y validar una nueva medida, el Cuestionario de Caracterización de la Experiencia Lingüística y la Aculturación (CLEAr-Q).; Determinar la estructura factorial subyacente de las variables lingüísticas y de aculturación en una muestra australiana CALD.; Informar el desarrollo de herramientas de evaluación cognitiva mejoradas para poblaciones CALD.

Principales métodos:

  • Desarrollo del CLEAr-Q utilizando un marco de investigación participativa adaptado con consulta comunitaria CALD.; Administración de una encuesta anónima en línea que consta de 31 ítems.; Análisis Factorial Exploratorio (AEF) con rotación oblicua (geomin) para identificar la estructura factorial.

Principales resultados:

  • La muestra de validación comprendió 256 participantes (de 60 a 93 años) nacidos fuera de Australia con un idioma distinto del inglés (LOTE).; El AEF reveló una sólida solución de cuatro factores: Exposición Educativa al Inglés, Dominio y Identificación con la Cultura Mayoritaria, Dominio del Idioma y la Cultura Inglesa, y Cambio de Idioma.; Este modelo de cuatro factores explicó el 58,9% de la varianza y demostró un buen ajuste a los datos (CFI=0,98, SRMR=0,07).

Conclusiones:

  • El CLEAr-Q caracteriza eficazmente la diversidad lingüística y de aculturación dentro de una muestra australiana CALD.; La estructura factorial identificada resalta la interconexión de las variables lingüísticas y de aculturación.; Esta herramienta integral es esencial para comprender el impacto de la diversidad cultural y lingüística en la evaluación cognitiva, mejorando potencialmente la precisión diagnóstica de la demencia y el deterioro cognitivo en adultos mayores CALD.
