Objetivo del estudio:

  • Investigar la asociación entre biomarcadores de EA en sangre y la memoria episódica en adultos de mediana edad.
  • Determinar si los niveles de biomarcadores de mediana edad predicen el funcionamiento de la memoria.
  • Explorar las asociaciones dentro de familias y entre familias.

Principales métodos:

  • Se analizaron biomarcadores en sangre (amiloide-β42/40, ptau181) y puntuaciones de memoria episódica (CVLT-3) en 154 gemelos de mediana edad.
  • Se utilizaron correlaciones de Pearson y regresión de efectos mixtos.
  • Se examinaron las asociaciones con cuatro subpruebas de CVLT-3: recuerdo inmediato, recuerdo de demora corta, recuerdo de demora larga y reconocimiento.

Principales resultados:

  • No se encontraron correlaciones estadísticamente significativas entre amiloide-β42/40 o ptau181 y subpruebas de memoria episódica.
  • Se sugirió una posible asociación negativa entre ptau181 y la memoria episódica, pero no fue estadísticamente significativa.
  • No se observaron correlaciones entre familias ni dentro de familias.

Conclusiones:

  • Los niveles de biomarcadores de EA en sangre no se correlacionaron con el funcionamiento de la memoria en la muestra de mediana edad estudiada.
  • Estos hallazgos sugieren que las diferencias individuales en estos biomarcadores pueden no predecir el rendimiento de la memoria en la edad adulta media.
  • Se necesita más investigación para comprender el papel de los biomarcadores de EA en diferentes etapas de la vida.
