Resumen

Este estudio presenta un enfoque de IA generativa para crear imágenes sintéticas de mamografía espectral realzada por contraste (CESM), mejorando la biopsia virtual no invasiva del cáncer de mama cuando faltan datos reales de CESM. El método mejorado por IA ofrece una mejor clasificación de lesiones que el uso de solo mamografía digital de campo completo (FFDM).

Sus antecedentes:

  • El diagnóstico del cáncer de mama se basa en técnicas de imagen como la mamografía digital de campo completo (FFDM) y la mamografía espectral realzada por contraste (CESM).
  • La falta de datos CESM puede alterar los flujos de trabajo de diagnóstico y afectar la precisión de la clasificación.
  • La biopsia virtual ofrece un método no invasivo para clasificar lesiones mamarias.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Desarrollar un enfoque de aprendizaje profundo multimodal y multivista para la biopsia virtual de cáncer de mama.
  • Integrar datos FFDM y CESM para mejorar la clasificación de lesiones.
  • Abordar la falta de datos CESM utilizando IA generativa para la síntesis de imágenes.

Principales métodos:

  • Se utilizó un modelo CycleGAN para sintetizar imágenes CESM faltantes a partir de entradas FFDM.
  • Se emplearon tres redes neuronales convolucionales (ResNet18, ResNet50, VGG16) para la clasificación.
  • Se utilizó una estrategia de fusión tardía en dos etapas para combinar probabilidades específicas de vista y específicas de modalidad, ponderadas por el Coeficiente de Correlación de Matthews (MCC).

Principales resultados:

  • La IA generativa logró la síntesis de imágenes CESM de alta fidelidad (PSNR > 24 dB, SSIM > 0.8).
  • El enfoque multimodal (FFDM + CESM) superó la clasificación unimodal solo con FFDM.
  • Incluso con imágenes CESM totalmente sintéticas, el enfoque multimodal mejoró el rendimiento en comparación con solo FFDM.

Conclusiones:

  • La IA generativa sintetiza eficazmente imágenes CESM, superando las lagunas de datos en el diagnóstico del cáncer de mama.
  • La incorporación de imágenes CESM sintéticas mejora el rendimiento de la biopsia virtual basada en FFDM.
  • Este enfoque no invasivo apoya la toma de decisiones clínicas y aporta un valioso conjunto de datos (CESM@UCBM).
