Abstract:
Although Candida glabrata reproduces asexually, it has maintained the canonical mating signaling pathway. A new paper shows that C. glabrata can use this pathway to secrete a novel small protein, Yhi1, that induces hyphal formation in Candida albicans, with implications for colonization and virulence.
