Resumen
Este estudio de caso presenta un paciente con alexia sin agrafia, una afección rara en la que se pierde la capacidad de leer pero las habilidades de escritura permanecen intactas. Este déficit neurológico resultó de un accidente cerebrovascular que afectó el lóbulo occipital izquierdo.

- La alexia sin agrafia es una afección neurológica rara caracterizada por la incapacidad de leer a pesar de la preservación de la capacidad de escritura. Esta afección se asocia típicamente con lesiones en el lóbulo occipital izquierdo y/o el esplenio del cuerpo calloso.
Objetivo del estudio:
- Presentar un estudio de caso de alexia sin agrafia en un paciente anciano. Correlacionar los hallazgos de neuroimagen con la presentación clínica de alexia sin agrafia.
Principales métodos:
- Un informe de caso de un paciente anciano que presenta déficits neurológicos agudos. Se realizaron tomografía computarizada (TC) y resonancia magnética (RM) del cerebro. Se realizó un examen neurológico por un neurólogo para evaluar las capacidades de lectura y escritura.
Principales resultados:
- El paciente presentó confusión leve y afasia expresiva. La tomografía computarizada reveló un infarto de 5 cm en el lóbulo occipital izquierdo con oclusión P2. El examen neurológico confirmó la incapacidad para leer, mientras que la capacidad de escritura, incluida la ortografía y la caligrafía, se mantuvo intacta. Los hallazgos de la resonancia magnética fueron consistentes con casos previamente reportados de alexia sin agrafia.
