Resumen
En el labio leporino bilateral asimétrico, el lado izquierdo es más completo con frecuencia. Si bien las hendiduras unilaterales no muestran preferencia lateral en cuanto a completitud, la raza, la etnia y el sexo influyen significativamente en los patrones de gravedad de las hendiduras.

- Las hendiduras orofaciales, incluido el labio leporino con o sin paladar hendido (NSCL/P), varían en gravedad desde parciales hasta de grosor completo.; La comprensión de los patrones de completitud de las hendiduras es crucial para la planificación del diagnóstico y el tratamiento.
Objetivo del estudio:
- Evaluar la preferencia lateral para la completitud de la hendidura en el labio leporino bilateral asimétrico no sindrómico y el labio leporino unilateral con o sin paladar hendido (NSCL/P).; Analizar las asociaciones entre la completitud de la hendidura, el sexo, la etnia y la raza en diversas poblaciones.
Principales métodos:
- Análisis de 3.561 individuos con NSCL/P de cuatro cohortes multieTnicas (América del Norte/Sur, Asia, África).; Se utilizó la prueba Chi-cuadrado o la prueba exacta de Fisher para evaluar las asociaciones entre la completitud de la hendidura, el sexo, la etnia y la raza.; Se incluyeron pacientes con información completa sobre el tipo de hendidura y la completitud.
Principales resultados:
- La completitud de la hendidura del lado izquierdo fue significativamente más frecuente que la del lado derecho en casos bilaterales asimétricos (73,7 % frente al 26,3 %; p<0,001).; Los hispanos mostraron tasas de completitud más altas que los no hispanos en casos bilaterales simétricos y unilaterales.; Los caucásicos tuvieron tasas de completitud más bajas en comparación con asiáticos, negros u otros grupos raciales (p<0,001), y las mujeres presentaron hendiduras más completas que los hombres (p=0,003).
Conclusiones:
- El lado izquierdo es más frecuentemente completo en NSCL/P con asimetría bilateral.; La completitud en hendiduras unilaterales no muestra preferencia lateral, a diferencia de la mayor incidencia general de hendiduras del lado izquierdo.; Existen asociaciones significativas entre la raza, la etnia y los patrones de gravedad de las hendiduras.
