Sus antecedentes:

  • Las mujeres posparto (MP) experimentan una reorganización cerebral significativa para la adaptación materna.
  • Los mecanismos neuronales a gran escala precisos que subyacen a estas adaptaciones siguen siendo en gran medida desconocidos.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Investigar la reorganización del conectoma cerebral en mujeres posparto utilizando RM multimodal.
  • Explorar la relación entre los cambios neuronales y los síntomas clínicos.

Principales métodos:

  • Enfoque de RM multimodal que integra el análisis de gradientes funcionales, métricas de redes de teoría de grafos y morfometría.
  • Comparación entre 134 mujeres posparto (MP) y 75 mujeres nulíparas sanas (NH).

Principales resultados:

  • Las MP exhibieron gradientes funcionales contraídos, menor segregación de redes y un procesamiento de información menos eficiente en comparación con las NH.
  • Se observaron reducciones en el volumen de materia gris (VGM) en las MP, lo que medió la reorganización del gradiente funcional.
  • Los cambios neuronales se correlacionaron con síntomas clínicos como mala calidad del sueño y ansiedad.

Conclusiones:

  • El cerebro posparto experimenta una reconfiguración de redes a gran escala, lo que indica plasticidad adaptativa.
  • Las alteraciones del VGM desempeñan un papel clave en la modulación de los cambios en las redes funcionales durante el período posparto.
