Sus antecedentes:

  • La comunicación centrada en el paciente es vital en la medicina de emergencia para una atención de alta calidad.
  • El aborto espontáneo (pérdida temprana del embarazo) afecta aproximadamente al 17.1% de los pacientes que se presentan en el servicio de urgencias.
  • La comunicación eficaz es crucial al dar un diagnóstico de aborto espontáneo y discutir el manejo.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Proporcionar un caso de formación para residentes de medicina de emergencia centrado en la comunicación centrada en el paciente.
  • Mejorar la capacidad de los alumnos para establecer una relación, explorar las preocupaciones del paciente y validar las emociones.
  • Mejorar las habilidades para explicar los diagnósticos de aborto espontáneo y desarrollar planes de atención de manera colaborativa.

Principales métodos:

  • Un caso de paciente estandarizado co-desarrollado por expertos en simulación y medicina de emergencia.
  • Pruebas y refinamiento iterativos con alumnos y facilitadores en múltiples instituciones.
  • Evaluación a través de encuestas que evalúan la eficacia desde la perspectiva de los alumnos y los facilitadores.

Principales resultados:

  • El caso recibió críticas favorables, con recomendaciones menores para las notas del facilitador y la alineación de objetivos.
  • Los alumnos calificaron el caso de manera excelente (4.5 a 4.8) en sesiones de prueba iterativas.
  • Los facilitadores clasificaron consistentemente el caso por encima de 4 sobre 5, con comentarios centrados en las indicaciones y el debriefing.

Conclusiones:

  • El caso de paciente estandarizado es una herramienta eficaz para practicar habilidades de comunicación centrada en el paciente.
  • Se recomienda el caso para residentes de medicina de emergencia que se preparan para los exámenes de certificación.
  • El módulo de formación aborda con éxito las competencias de comunicación esenciales en el manejo del aborto espontáneo.
