Sus antecedentes:

  • Las enfermedades no transmisibles (ECNT) plantean un desafío creciente para la salud mundial, especialmente en economías en rápida transición.
  • Las cohortes poblacionales a gran escala son cruciales para comprender los determinantes de las ECNT específicos de la región.
  • La provincia de Guangdong enfrenta una carga significativa y creciente de ECNT, pero carece de datos extensos de cohortes.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Establecer la cohorte Guangdong Biobank (GDBC) para investigar las ECNT en una población importante de China.
  • Recopilar datos completos de referencia y longitudinales sobre estilo de vida, ambiente, genética y resultados de salud.
  • Facilitar la investigación sobre interacciones gen-microbioma-ambiente para estrategias de prevención de precisión.

Principales métodos:

  • Se reclutaron 35.081 participantes de 40 a 84 años en la provincia de Guangdong.
  • Se recopilaron datos extensos (346 variables), especímenes biológicos y se realizó genotipado de todo el genoma y perfilado del microbioma oral.
  • Se utilizó seguimiento dinámico, encuestas repetidas y enlace con el registro regional para la determinación de enfermedades hasta diciembre de 2023.

Principales resultados:

  • Prevalencia basal: hipertensión (25,3%), diabetes (8,0%), cáncer (3,6%).
  • Tasas de incidencia bruta por 100.000 personas-año: hipertensión (1.804,6), diabetes (649,7), cáncer (423,1).
  • GDBC es un recurso dinámico con mediciones repetidas y especímenes biológicos actualizados.

Conclusiones:

  • La GDBC es un recurso valioso para el estudio de las ECNT en la provincia de Guangdong.
  • La cohorte permite un análisis detallado de las interacciones gen-microbioma-ambiente.
  • Los hallazgos informarán las estrategias de prevención de precisión y las políticas de salud pública para las ECNT.
