Resumen

La descomposición de la corteza de los árboles es más rápida de lo que se pensaba anteriormente y varía a nivel mundial. El cambio climático alterará las tasas de descomposición de la corteza, lo que afectará a los modelos del ciclo del carbono.

Conclusiones:

  • La descomposición de la corteza es un componente crítico y subestimado del ciclo global del carbono.
  • El cambio climático futuro afectará de manera diferencial la descomposición de la corteza, con posibles ralentizaciones en áreas cálidas/húmedas y aceleración en regiones frías/secas.
  • La incorporación de la descomposición de la corteza en los modelos del ciclo del carbono es esencial para proyecciones climáticas precisas.
