Resumen

Este estudio presenta un enfoque de arriba hacia abajo para descubrir mejores electrocatalizadores de conversión de energía. Al comenzar con aleaciones complejas y eliminar elementos, los investigadores identificaron eficientemente materiales óptimos, reduciendo el esfuerzo experimental.

Sus antecedentes:

  • El descubrimiento tradicional de catalizadores utiliza un enfoque de abajo hacia arriba, que consume mucho tiempo.
  • Las aleaciones complejas ofrecen potencial para un rendimiento catalítico mejorado, pero son difíciles de estudiar de manera integral.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Demostrar una estrategia novedosa de arriba hacia abajo para descubrir electrocatalizadores de conversión de energía.
  • Desarrollar un método basado en datos que reduzca el número de experimentos necesarios para la optimización de catalizadores.

Principales métodos:

  • Se empleó un enfoque de arriba hacia abajo, comenzando con una aleación compleja de alta entropía (HEA) que contiene múltiples elementos.
  • Se realizó una selección descendente de elementos eliminando los constituyentes de bajo rendimiento de la aleación.
  • Se creó un modelo de actividad de aprendizaje automático basado en datos experimentales de 200 composiciones de aleaciones.

Principales resultados:

  • El estudio aplicó con éxito el enfoque de arriba hacia abajo al sistema de aleaciones de alta entropía (HEA) Au-Ir-Os-Pd-Pt-Re-Rh-Ru para la reacción de reducción de oxígeno (ORR).
  • El modelo de aprendizaje automático demostró poder predictivo para la actividad de aleaciones menos complejas dentro del espacio de HEA.
  • Este método reduce significativamente la carga experimental en comparación con el estudio individual de todas las aleaciones constituyentes.

Conclusiones:

  • El enfoque de arriba hacia abajo es una estrategia eficiente para descubrir electrocatalizadores mejorados.
  • Este método facilita la comparación de datos experimentales con simulaciones teóricas para modelar la actividad del catalizador.
  • El modelo de aprendizaje automático desarrollado puede predecir el rendimiento de aleaciones más simples derivadas de HEA complejas.
