Las dimensiones del seno maxilar (SM) en adultos saudíes de Ha

- La anatomía del seno maxilar (SM) varía significativamente con el sexo, la edad y la morfología craneofacial.
- Los datos morfométricos precisos son cruciales para la planificación quirúrgica, endodóntica y de implantes.
- Existen datos morfométricos limitados para las subpoblaciones saudíes, especialmente de la región de Ha'il.
Objetivo del estudio:
- Evaluar las dimensiones morfométricas del seno maxilar (SM) en una subpoblación saudí de Ha'il utilizando tomografía computarizada de haz cónico (CBCT).
- Evaluar las variaciones en las dimensiones del SM en función del sexo, la edad y la lateralidad.
Principales métodos:
- Análisis retrospectivo de 1.018 exploraciones CBCT de adultos saudíes (18-70 años).
- Medición bilateral de la anchura, longitud, área y perímetro del seno en cortes coronales estandarizados.
- Análisis estadístico mediante las pruebas de Mann-Whitney U, Wilcoxon de rangos con signo, Kruskal-Wallis y ANCOVA (p < 0,05).
Principales resultados:
- Los hombres mostraron dimensiones del SM significativamente mayores (área, perímetro, anchura) que las mujeres (p < 0,05).
- No se observaron diferencias significativas relacionadas con la edad en las dimensiones del SM en los grupos de edad adulta.
- Se observó una asimetría derecha-izquierda estadísticamente significativa, aunque clínicamente mínima, con una ligera predominancia derecha.
Conclusiones:
- La evaluación CBCT revela diferencias significativas relacionadas con el sexo en la morfometría del SM en saudíes de Ha'il.
- Las dimensiones del SM son estables en los grupos de edad adulta con una mínima asimetría de lateralidad.
- Los datos normativos específicos de la región mejoran la precisión diagnóstica y la seguridad de los procedimientos en cirugía oral y maxilofacial, implantología y aplicaciones forenses.
