Sus antecedentes:

Los técnicos veterinarios acreditados (CVT) desempeñan un papel crucial en la atención de la salud animal.
Se necesita un marco estandarizado para definir las competencias de los CVT en diversos entornos de práctica.
Los marcos existentes pueden no reflejar completamente las necesidades actuales de la fuerza laboral o la alineación educativa.

Objetivo del estudio:

Desarrollar un marco de competencias informado por la fuerza laboral para técnicos veterinarios acreditados.
Definir las habilidades amplias y esenciales requeridas para los CVT en diversos entornos de práctica.
Asegurar que el marco se alinee con los planes de estudio académicos y las expectativas profesionales.

Principales métodos:

Se llevó a cabo un estudio de desarrollo de consenso de métodos mixtos durante 8 meses.
Fase 1: Grupos focales de Delphi modificados generaron competencias iniciales.
Fase 2: Una encuesta nacional validó las competencias con profesionales veterinarios.
Fase 3: El mapeo curricular evaluó la alineación con programas acreditados de técnicos veterinarios.

Principales resultados:

El estudio generó 101 competencias en la Fase 1, refinadas a 94 en la Fase 2.
El marco finalizado Advancing Skills, Competencies, and Education in Veterinary Nursing Development (ASCEND) comprende 94 competencias en 18 dominios.
El mapeo curricular confirmó la alineación integral con 2 programas acreditados de técnicos veterinarios.

Conclusiones:

El marco ASCEND proporciona una base validada e informada por la fuerza laboral para las competencias de los CVT.
Demuestra un fuerte consenso entre los profesionales veterinarios y la alineación con los estándares educativos.
Esta referencia apoya la claridad del rol y las expectativas del alcance de la práctica para los CVT.
