Resumen
La reacción en cadena de la polimerasa (PCR) multiplex directa identificó eficazmente patógenos en casos de uveítis infecciosa. Esta prueba molecular rápida ayuda en el diagnóstico de la uveítis infecciosa, mejorando el manejo del paciente.

- Evaluar la utilidad de un ensayo de reacción en cadena de la polimerasa (PCR) multiplex directa de bajo volumen para la detección de patógenos en líquido intraocular de pacientes con uveítis infecciosa.
Principales métodos:
- Estudio prospectivo que involucró a 57 pacientes con presunta uveítis infecciosa y 47 controles.
- Se realizó PCR multiplex directa en tira en muestras de líquido intraocular de pequeño volumen (20 µL).
- El ensayo de PCR se dirigió a seis herpesvirus, el virus linfotrópico de células T humanas (HTLV), Treponema pallidum y Toxoplasma gondii.
Principales resultados:
- La PCR detectó patógenos en el 35,1% de los casos de uveítis infecciosa, incluyendo varios herpesvirus, T. gondii, T. pallidum y HTLV.
- Los resultados de la PCR provocaron un cambio en el diagnóstico inicial del 17,5% de los pacientes.
- Se observaron discrepancias entre las etiologías presuntas y las identificadas por PCR, lo que resalta el impacto diagnóstico.
