Sus antecedentes:

  • Los biosensores tradicionales utilizan anticuerpos o aptámeros para el reconocimiento de bioestructuras, pero enfrentan limitaciones en sensibilidad, durabilidad y tiempo de respuesta.
  • La comercialización de biosensores desechables ha permitido diagnósticos rápidos, cruciales para la respuesta a pandemias, sin embargo, persisten desafíos.
  • La impresión molecular y otras tecnologías de fabricación de moldes requieren mejoras para una mayor robustez.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Desarrollar una novedosa técnica de fabricación de microespacios utilizando materiales metálicos para mejorar la durabilidad de los biosensores.
  • Mejorar la sensibilidad y reutilización de los biosensores para la detección de patógenos.
  • Crear una plataforma más robusta para la monitorización ambiental y la vigilancia de enfermedades infecciosas.

Principales métodos:

  • Se aplicó deposición de metal de bajo daño a partículas de protozoos y similares al Norovirus (NoV-LP) para crear películas delgadas metálicas.
  • Se fabricaron microespacios en estas películas metálicas, formando espacios bioestructurados.
  • Se evaluó la sensibilidad y reutilización de los microespacios metálicos fabricados.

Principales resultados:

  • El procedimiento de fabricación para ajustar objetos en el espacio bioestructurado tomó menos de un minuto.
  • Se logró una sensibilidad de 10 fg/mL para partículas similares al Norovirus (NoV-LP).
  • Las películas delgadas metálicas de sustrato no mostraron disminución en la reactividad después de usos repetidos y almacenamiento a temperatura ambiente, lo que indica alta durabilidad.

Conclusiones:

  • La integración de estructuras metálicas estables con elementos de bioreconocimiento mejora significativamente la robustez y fiabilidad de los biosensores.
  • Este enfoque tiene potencial para mejorar la monitorización ambiental y la detección temprana de enfermedades infecciosas.
  • La tecnología desarrollada contribuye a las estrategias de salud pública para la contención de enfermedades infecciosas.
