- To evaluate the diagnostic and monitoring utility of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA detection in different blood compartments.; To differentiate the clinical significance of EBV DNA in PBMCs versus cell-free DNA (CF DNA).

- Analysis of EBV DNA levels in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and cell-free (CF) DNA.; Comparison of EBV DNA detection across various clinical conditions including organ transplant recipients, EBV-post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (EBV-PTLD), HIV-associated lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), and Hodgkin lymphoma (HL).

- Higher PBMC EBV DNA copy numbers in transplant recipients may guide immunosuppression management.; PBMC EBV DNA is less valuable for monitoring EBV-PTLD post-treatment or for diagnosing HIV-associated lymphoma, NPC, or HL.; CF EBV DNA, originating from tumor cells in NPC and HL, is a sensitive marker for tumor monitoring, especially in NPC and NK/T cell lymphoma (NK/TCL).; Whole blood EBV DNA assays detect both cellular and CF viral DNA but lack compartment specificity.
Conclusiones:
- Cell-free EBV DNA assays are valuable for monitoring specific cancers like NPC and NK/TCL.; PBMC EBV DNA has limited utility in certain conditions like EBV-PTLD, HIV-associated lymphoma, NPC, and HL.; Further research into EBV DNA fragmentomics and methylation in plasma could enhance tumor detection and classification.
