Resumen

Este estudio analizó los riesgos en la cateterización urinaria en adultos, identificando 55 modos de fallo. El análisis proactivo de riesgos y la participación de las enfermeras son cruciales para mejorar la seguridad del paciente y la gestión de riesgos sanitarios.

Sus antecedentes:

  • La cateterización urinaria es un procedimiento común con riesgos inherentes.
  • Es esencial un enfoque proactivo para identificar y mitigar estos riesgos para la seguridad del paciente.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Analizar los riesgos potenciales dentro del proceso de cateterización urinaria con sonda permanente en adultos.
  • Identificar los modos de fallo, causas y efectos asociados con la cateterización urinaria.

Principales métodos:

  • Investigación exploratoria, descriptiva y evaluativa realizada en un hospital universitario.
  • Se utilizó el modelado de procesos para crear un diagrama de flujo de actividades y su descripción.
  • Se aplicó el Análisis de Modos y Efectos de Fallo (AMFE) para el análisis de riesgos potenciales.

Principales resultados:

  • Se identificaron cuatro subprocesos dentro del procedimiento de cateterización urinaria.
  • El análisis reveló 55 modos de fallo potenciales, 92 causas de fallo potenciales y 40 efectos de fallo potenciales.
  • Las enfermeras desempeñan un papel estratégico en la gestión de riesgos durante todo el proceso de cateterización.

Conclusiones:

  • El método AMFE apoya eficazmente el análisis proactivo de riesgos sanitarios en la cateterización urinaria.
  • Los hallazgos enfatizan la necesidad de una cultura de seguridad mejorada a nivel nacional.
  • La participación continua de las enfermeras es vital para una gestión eficaz de los riesgos sanitarios en la cateterización.
