Objetivo del estudio:

  • Evaluar el impacto del programa nacional de exploración de carreras de Exploring DBP en el interés de los aprendices en las becas de DBP.
  • Caracterizar la demografía de los participantes, la adquisición de conocimientos y las barreras para ingresar al campo de DBP.

Principales métodos:

  • Análisis de los datos previos y posteriores a la encuesta de 2019-2023 Explorando cohortes de DBP.
  • Las encuestas evaluaron la demografía, el conocimiento de DBP, la satisfacción y la probabilidad de solicitud de becas.
  • El análisis cualitativo exploró los factores de decisión de carrera que influyen en la búsqueda de DBP.

Principales resultados:

  • 239 participantes completaron el programa, con una representación étnica diversa.
  • La probabilidad de solicitar una beca DBP aumentó del 46% al 79% después del programa.
  • Las barreras clave incluyeron la compensación, la duración de la capacitación y los préstamos estudiantiles; El 41% de los primeros participantes coincidieron en DBP.

Conclusiones:

  • El programa Exploring DBP mejoró con éxito el conocimiento y el interés de los aprendices en seguir una carrera en DBP.
  • La exposición temprana estructurada a DBP puede apoyar efectivamente el reclutamiento en esta subespecialidad pediátrica.
