- El 22,3% de las admisiones de lesiones autoinfligidas por armas de fuego (n = 1532) tuvo una hospitalización previa.
- Los diagnósticos previos a la hospitalización fueron similares en los grupos urbanos y rurales, siendo las infecciones (41,4% frente a 44,7%) y la salud mental (20,8% frente a 25,1%) las más comunes.
- Otros diagnósticos previos significativos incluyeron abuso de drogas / alcohol y lesiones; no hubo hospitalizaciones previas por otras lesiones por armas de fuego.
Conclusiones:
- Se observó una tasa sustancial de hospitalización previa (22,3%) antes de las admisiones de lesiones autoinfligidas por armas de fuego.
- A pesar de las disparidades urbanas-rurales documentadas en las lesiones autoinfligidas por armas de fuego, los diagnósticos que conducen a hospitalizaciones anteriores fueron comparables entre estas poblaciones.
