Sus antecedentes:

  • Los trastornos del sistema biliar son comunes y pueden tener efectos sistémicos.
  • Comprender los vínculos genéticos entre las enfermedades biliares y el cerebro es crucial para la atención integral del paciente.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Investigar las posibles asociaciones genéticas entre cuatro trastornos del sistema biliar (colangitis esclerosante primaria, colecistitis, colangiocarcinoma intrahepático, enfermedad de cálculos biliares) y los cambios estructurales cerebrales.
  • Utilizar la aleatorización mendeliana para evaluar las relaciones direccionales.

Principales métodos:

  • Análisis de aleatorización mendeliana utilizando estadísticas de resumen de estudios de asociación del genoma completo.
  • Análisis de la corteza cerebral y las estructuras cerebrales subcorticales de grandes cohortes (consorcio ENIGMA).
  • El método de variables inversas como método analítico principal con análisis de sensibilidad.

Principales resultados:

  • Los niveles de bilirrubina total predichos genéticamente se asociaron con un menor grosor de la pars opercularis.
  • La colecistitis se relacionó con un menor grosor y área de superficie del lóbulo paracentral.
  • La enfermedad de cálculos biliares se asoció con dimensiones alteradas del giro temporal transversal y un menor grosor de los giros temporales inferior/medio.
  • El colangiocarcinoma intrahepático se relacionó con un menor grosor de la pars opercularis y un área de superficie del giro parietal superior.
  • La colangitis esclerosante primaria se asoció con un área de superficie aumentada del giro parahipocampal y un mayor grosor del lóbulo paracentral.

Conclusiones:

  • El estudio sugiere una asociación genética entre los trastornos del sistema biliar y las alteraciones en la estructura de la corteza cerebral.
  • Estos hallazgos indican un posible impacto indirecto de las anomalías biliares en la morfología cerebral.
