Approximately 30% of the Spanish population over the age of 65 has a disability, yet there is limited research on how ageing affects this group. This literature review aimed to answer the question of how ageing develops in people with disabilities, its impact on health, and the differences based on the type of disability. PRISMA guidelines were followed and searches were conducted across various databases using specific criteria (articles from the last 11 years, written in Spanish or English, and focused on individuals with disabilities aged 45 and over). Out of a total of 3,538 studies, 14 were selected. The results show that ageing in this population leads to greater difficulties in daily activities, poorer physical and mental health, lower social inclusion, and feelings of unwanted loneliness. These findings highlight the need for further research in this area.
