Sus antecedentes:

  • El informe matutino (MR) es una piedra angular de la educación de la residencia de medicina interna en los Estados Unidos, también adoptada por otras especialidades.
  • La literatura existente carece de información detallada sobre las consideraciones específicas a nivel del alumno para el contenido, la estructura y los resultados de MR.
  • Este estudio aborda la necesidad de una comprensión integral del estado actual de MR en la educación médica de posgrado.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Llevar a cabo una revisión de alcance para caracterizar los conocimientos actuales sobre el contenido, la estructura, las brechas y los resultados del Informe Matinal (MR) específico a nivel del alumno.
  • Para identificar cómo las sesiones de RM difieren para los internos frente a los residentes mayores.
  • Para resaltar las áreas de mejora en el diseño y la implementación de MR.

Principales métodos:

  • Se realizó una búsqueda sistemática en 3 bases de datos de artículos revisados por pares sobre MR en la educación médica de posgrado.
  • Se incluyeron estudios centrados en el aprendizaje basado en casos para residentes, especificando la composición de los participantes (interns vs. residentes mayores).
  • Los datos se extrajeron y analizaron utilizando el análisis de contenido para identificar temas relacionados con el contenido, la estructura y los resultados de MR.

Principales resultados:

  • De los 2.287 artículos, 36 cumplían con los criterios de inclusión, y la mayoría trataba de sesiones de pasantes (64%) o de personas mayores (89%).
  • Las sesiones de pasantes se centraron en las habilidades fundamentales y la adaptación, mientras que las sesiones de adultos mayores enfatizaron los casos avanzados y la medicina basada en la evidencia.
  • Se identificaron brechas significativas, incluido el uso limitado de la teoría del aprendizaje de adultos, el desarrollo mínimo de facilitadores y la evaluación inadecuada de los resultados.

Conclusiones:

  • A pesar de su uso de larga data, el diseño educativo de MR se ha estancado y está poco alineado con los principios de aprendizaje de adultos y la evaluación rigurosa.
  • Existe una necesidad crítica de investigación para reevaluar la RM con diseños específicos para el alumno, teorías de aprendizaje modernas y medidas de resultados validadas.
  • La actualización de MR es esencial para satisfacer las necesidades educativas cambiantes de los estudiantes de medicina.
