Background:
Lymphatic vessels are essential for fluid homeostasis, immune surveillance, lipid absorption and endocrine regulation. Several studies have shown that lymphangiogenesis is associated with cardiovascular diseases (CVDs).
Objective:
This review aims to summarize the relationship between lymphangiogenesis and CVDs.
Results:
Lymphatic vessels are important for attenuating myocardial edema, alleviating chronic inflammation, reducing cholesterol accumulation and mediating protein secretion, which suggests an indispensable role in the protective effect of lymphangiogenesis against CVDs.
Conclusion:
Lymphangiogenesis offers a novel therapeutic option for the treatment of CVDs. However, further research is needed to explore the molecular mechanisms that regulate lymphangiogenesis.

Development of the Lymphatic System
The first lymph sacs to form are the paired jugular lymph sacs located at the junction of the internal jugular and subclavian veins. From these sacs, lymphatic capillary plexuses extend to the thorax, upper limbs, neck, and head, eventually forming lymphatic vessels. Each jugular lymph sac maintains a...

Regulation of the Cardiovascular System
The regulation of the cardiovascular system involves the autonomic nervous system (ANS), baroreceptors, and chemoreceptors, ensuring that heart rate and blood pressure are appropriately modulated in response to varying physiological demands.
The ANS comprises two main divisions: the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. The sympathetic nervous system enhances...
