Resumen
Los investigadores analizaron el genoma de ARN de RadLV/VL3, un virus oncogénico de la leucemia murina. Identificaron distintos componentes de ARN y encontraron que la subunidad de 5.6 kb carece del gen p30, lo que explica sus propiedades oncogénicas.

- BL/Ka(B) contiene sólo 8 kb de subunidades de ARN viral.
- La subunidad de 5,6 kb de RadLV/VL3 carece del gen para la proteína p30 pero contiene genes para p15 y p12.
- La traducción in vitro del ARN de 5,6 kb produjo una proteína que reaccionó con anticuerpos anti-p15 pero no anti-p30.
- Se detectó un nuevo ARN citoplasmático que contiene 1,6 kb de poli (A) en células productoras de RadLV/VL3 con baja homología a BL/Ka (B).
Conclusiones:
- La deleción o ausencia del gen p30 en la subunidad de ARN de 5,6 kb probablemente contribuye a la alta oncogenicidad de RadLV/VL3.
- La distinta composición de ARN y el nuevo ARN citoplasmático sugieren mecanismos únicos en la patogénesis de RadLV/VL3.
- El análisis genómico comparativo proporciona información sobre la oncogénesis retroviral.
