Resumen
La tembladera y la enfermedad de Creutzfeldt-Jakob (ECJ) implican degeneración cerebral. Las fibrillas anormales (FAS) encontradas en los cerebros y el bazo infectados sugieren que pueden ser el agente infeccioso o una respuesta patológica.

Sus antecedentes:

- Examen de extractos de bazo de animales infectados con scrapie o ECJ.
- Observación microscópica para la presencia de fibrillas asociadas a la tembladera.
Principales resultados:
- Se detectaron SAF en fracciones cerebrales de casos humanos de ECJ transmitidos experimentalmente y de ocurrencia natural.
- La FAA también se identificó en extractos de bazo de animales infectados con scrapie o ECJ.
- Los SAF estuvieron constantemente ausentes en los tejidos de los animales de control.
Conclusiones:
- La presencia de SAF en los tejidos del cerebro y el bazo asociados con el scrapie y la ECJ sugiere un fuerte vínculo.
- La FAA puede representar ya sea una respuesta patológica única a estas enfermedades o el propio agente infeccioso.
