Objetivo del estudio:

  • Evaluar los métodos y factores que influyen en las decisiones de los autores sobre la presentación de artículos a revistas.
  • Identificar los criterios clave para las presentaciones de manuscritos iniciales y posteriores.

Principales métodos:

  • Se distribuyó una encuesta de 1992 a 479 profesores clínicos y de investigación activos.
  • Se logró una tasa de respuesta del 63,7% (305 profesores).
  • Los encuestados clasificaron los factores en una escala de 1 (poco importante) a 6 (muy importante).

Principales resultados:

  • Para las presentaciones iniciales, el prestigio de la revista (5.2), el número de lectores (4.8) y la relevancia del tema (4.8) fueron primordiales.
  • La probabilidad de aceptación (4.4) y el tamaño de la circulación (4.1) también fueron significativos.
  • Para las presentaciones posteriores, la probabilidad de aceptación (5.0) y la relevancia del tema (4.7) se volvieron más importantes.

Conclusiones:

  • El prestigio de la revista, la alineación de temas y el número de lectores son claves para las colocaciones iniciales de manuscritos.
  • Los factores pragmáticos como las tasas de aceptación ganan importancia para las presentaciones repetidas.
  • Las ideas pueden guiar a los editores para mejorar el atractivo de la revista para los autores.
