Resumen
El antígeno asociado a la hepatitis (HAA) en partículas parecidas a virus está relacionado con la transmisión de hepatitis sérica. Incluso los niveles indetectables de HAA en los materiales pueden causar infección por hepatitis.

Principales resultados:
- Se identificaron partículas parecidas a virus de aproximadamente 20 milimicrones de diámetro, que contienen HAA, en materiales que causaron hepatitis sérica.
- La HAA se detectó en muestras de suero de 61 individuos inoculados con estos materiales, de los cuales 38 desarrollaron hepatitis sérica.
- La hepatitis sérica se transmitió incluso cuando los niveles de HAA eran demasiado bajos para su detección por los métodos existentes.
