Cognitive enhancers, also known as "smart drugs," are substances used to enhance memory, mental alertness, and concentration. These can be natural or synthetic and improve cognition in conditions like Alzheimer's disease (AD) and other neurodegenerative diseases. Some common examples include caffeine, amphetamines, methylphenidate, modafinil, arecoline, donepezil, vortioxetine, and piracetam. These enhancers work on the principle of synaptic plasticity and altered circuit function.

    主な方法:

    • アリゾナ州老化と神経変性疾患の研究の486人の被験者の横断分析
    • EFは複合的な潜伏変数 (トレイル・メイキング・テスト,ストロップ・インターフェンション,ディジット・スパーン,クロック・ドローイング,言語流暢度) を用いて評価される.
    • ApoEの遺伝子型を決定し,落下歴と将来の落下を分析するためにロジスティック回帰を用いた.

    主要な成果:

    • APOE4はEF- 減少の関係を有意に緩和しませんでした.
    • EFは認知機能不全とMCIの患者に転倒歴が認められたが,AD認知症は認められなかった.
    • パーキンソン病のスケール要素,病状,うつ病などの共変数は,転倒歴と関連していました. 病状と転倒歴は,将来の転倒に関連しています.

    結論:

    • APOE4はEFと転倒との関連を変化させない.
    • 転倒に対するEFの影響は,個人の認知状態に依存しています.
