Abstract:
This article presents a case of a 29-year-old female patient with a giant neurofibroma in the left chest area, weighing 7 kg and accounting for 28% of her body weight. Numerous patients with neurofibromatosis remain undiagnosed or fail to receive optimal treatment because they are asymptomatic or experience late-onset symptoms. Surgical resection serves as the principal treatment for giant neurofibromas. Nevertheless, it is a formidable challenge owing to tumor infiltration and extensive vascularity, which poses a risk of severe hemorrhage. In this case, by implementing ancillary procedures like ligating the feeding and nutrient arteries, the tumor was successfully excised with minimal blood loss. After the operation, the patient was discharged 20 days later and regained the ability to walk independently.
