Abstract:
Osteoarthritis and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome are two debilitating diseases accompanied by severe pain symptoms. Their patho-physiology still presents several poorly defined aspects, which have significantly delayed the availability of fully satisfactory drugs capable of achieving complete recovery. Despite the differences between the two conditions, they share some common elements, such as pain, inflammatory processes, traumatic events, and alterations in local bone structure. Based on these elements, various drugs have been tested over the years, equipped with mechanisms of action capable of influencing the pathological features characteristic of the two diseases. Among the tested drugs, bisphosphonate, particularly Neridronate and Clodronate, have shown promising results. Despite differences in dosage and therapeutic regimens, these compounds have demonstrated the ability to reduce pain symptoms and structural alterations.

Bone Disorders
Bone deposition is also affected by the levels of sex hormones like estrogen and testosterone that promote osteoblast activity and bone matrix synthesis. When the level of these hormones decreases due to aging, it causes a reduction in bone deposition. As a result, bone resorption by osteoclasts...

Vitamin A
Vitamin A is involved in the process of bone remodeling. Retinoic acid, the active metabolite of Vitamin A, has nuclear receptors in osteoblasts and osteoclasts, which are involved in bone remodeling.
