Abstract:

There is a need for using standardized lexicons and risk-severity scoring systems in different disease conditions encountered in musculoskeletal (MSK) radiology for improved interdisciplinary care. Several radiology reporting and data systems (RADS) scoring schemes have been recently published in the last 5 years for bone tumors and other MSK conditions like soft tissue tumors, infections, and peripheral neuropathy. Such systems allow standardized radiology reporting and common language for interdisciplinary communications while facilitating timely and appropriate patient management. This article highlights the key points, advantages, and pitfalls in the usage and utility of various RADS systems available for MSK radiology.
