Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the feasibility of a multifaceted weight loss program on a deployed U.S. Navy ship.

  • Thirty-nine overweight male sailors were randomized to a nutrition and cognitive-behavioral intervention plus exercise or to exercise alone.
  • The study was conducted during a 6-month Mediterranean deployment.
