Summary

Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of spinal osteoblastomas were compared with histological findings. CT is superior for characterizing spinal osteoblastomas and assessing local stage.

Background:

  • Accurate imaging is crucial for diagnosis and staging.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To correlate CT and MRI features of spinal osteoblastomas with histological findings.
  • To evaluate the diagnostic utility of CT and MRI in spinal osteoblastomas.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective review of CT and MRI features in 11 patients with 12 spinal osteoblastomas.
  • Comparison of imaging findings (mineralization, signal intensity, enhancement, reactive changes) with histological data.

Main Results:

  • CT showed matrix mineralization in all lesions; MRI identified it in only 8/12.
