Managed care. Purchasers seek relief from drug price hikes
Abstract:
Public and private groups are seeking a consensus on replacement legislation for a federal law that requires drug manufacturers to give rebates to state Medicaid programs based on the "best price" available in the market. Critics of the law, including the Dept. of Veterans Affairs and other high-volume purchasers, claim the law is drying up their discounts and driving up prices overall.
