Protection of the environment a modern challenge for hospital management

Hospital management is more and more confronted with the necessity of protecting the environment. All hospitals can significantly contribute without additional costs to the protection of the environment by specifically avoiding and reducing packaging materials. If additional costs ares inevitable, the hospital should look for acceptable solutions in the conflict between ecology and economy and make patients contribute towards financing by means of increased tariffs. The public must be made to understand that it is possible to take measures in favour of a better protection of the environment in hospitals, but that it has its price. We may work on the assumption that society is always more disposed to sacrifice economically if it is a case of doing something for the environment.
