Rationalizing decision-making through computer technology: a critical appraisal

Abstract:
As human services become more complex and multifaceted, sound decision-making guiding the service delivery process becomes critical. Administrators and others view computer technology as a means to rationalize the decision-making process at all levels of organizational life. The Management Information System (MIS) and program evaluations are viewed as technologies particularly useful for enhancing the decision-making process through computer technology. The strengths and limitations of computer technology are discussed. Strategies for using computer technology responsibly are offered.
