Central hypothyroidism associated with retinoid X receptor-selective ligands

Bexarotene, a retinoid X receptor ligand, can cause central hypothyroidism in cutaneous T-cell lymphoma patients by suppressing thyrotropin. This condition is reversible with thyroxine therapy and upon treatment cessation.

- Retinoid X receptor-selective ligands are implicated in this mechanism.
- The observed hypothyroidism is reversible and manageable with standard thyroid hormone replacement therapy.
