Tympanoplasty in children--a prospective study.

Background:

Tympanoplasty in pediatric patients remains a topic of debate.
Type I tympanoplasty is a common surgical procedure for central tympanic membrane perforations.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the outcomes of type I tympanoplasty in children.
To identify factors influencing the success rate of pediatric tympanoplasty.

Main Methods:

A prospective study involving 45 children aged 5-14 years with central perforations.
Surgery involved type I tympanoplasty using temporalis fascia autograft (underlay or overlay technique).
Patients were evaluated one year post-operatively.
