Peripheral late wave study in patients with discogenic radiculopathies

Thirty-nine adult patients with lumbar root radiculopathies were examined. Diagnosis is confirmed by CT evidence of discogenic nature of the disease. Peripheral late waves (PLW) were registered when determining F-waves in 21 of all investigated in which 51 damage roots. The presence of PLW didn't correlate with direct motor latency retardation. The single unidirectional ratio were found between PLW presence and F-wave latency increasing up 48 ms. We suspect demyelination nature of proximal segments of nerve roots from simultaneously findings of PLW and F-wave retardation.
