Abstract:
Antibiotic usage recently has come under careful scrutiny because of its impact upon hospital costs and its effect upon patient care. This article describes the antibiotic utilization review program developed at Norton-Children's Hospitals, Louisville, to improve antibiotic prescribing and to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals.
