Abstract:
Angiography is the most important diagnostic procedure for evaluation of renovascular hypertension. Technique and limits of this method as well as possible ways of improving its diagnostic value are discussed. The pathogenetic significance of a renal artery stenosis in hypertension and the prognosis for a vascular surgical intervention is discussed in the light of bilateral renin determination and the 138 Xe method of measuring intrarenal hemodynamics.
