Hospitals in literature: a second look

An earlier article published in this journal ("The Hospital in Literature") explored the role of hospitals in fiction, poetry, theater, television, and film. The response to that study was quite overwhelming. Many readers wrote to point out their favorite pieces of writing missing from the original article. A number of "hospital" novels have been published since the original article was written. Newly found pieces are presented here in addition to the original article and, hopefully, will fill the gap many felt existed.
