Examination of medical group accreditation

Though many medical groups today believe that the benefits of accreditation are not worth the costs, will this be true tomorrow? Accreditation is a natural extension of the concept of medical group practice itself, and may well be the key to the future in terms of demonstrating commitment to quality care, avoiding governmental regulations, obtaining malpractice insurance discounts, insuring credibility with reimbursement parties, and distinguishing one's own organization from others. Drawing on a recent survey, the author explores current resistance to accreditation and expectations for the future.
